French character in English field

Former Member

Hello

We are having strange issues with inheritance in Multi-lingual(english and French) MDM instance.French is defined as secondary.

The users are unable to Copy and paste from english to French..

Hence we are going with removing multi lingual option(since we will never need to see metadata in French) and creating

description field one for english and another for french.

Will this a English only MDM instance accept French characters in its fields?

TIA

Kalyan

Hi,

You need not to create seperate field for French Description. Multi-lingual option provides you feature to copy and paste content from one language field to other language field. As suggested by Mandeep, Open data manager and Select the record for which you want to change description in French. Go to Language details tab. Double click on English description Field. Select and copy the content, and now double click on description in french field (will be in next column) and paste field value there. You can also edit this field value and can add french characters. So when user login into MDM using french language, they will see description in french in the record details tab.

Check it and revert if you face any problem.

See, when you open your MDM Data Manager with Language English(US), for that multi-lingual field, go to Language Detail tab in record mode of your MDM data Manger, Here in Language Detail tab, it will show all multi-lingual fields with English(US) as black and other inherited language field with same English value in different color, you can here add any value same or different for French(FR)

It will allow you to copy and paste value from English to French.

Just check and revert with the result.

Thanks and Regards,
