COPA Past data

Hi,

I have identified certain issues related to Past data flow into COPA:

1. Costing key -

My costing key fetches Current cost estimate according to Mat Master. So in case of past data also, it would fetch the current cost estimate only. So I have created another costing key to fetch the Released cost estimate as on goods issue date for past validity. However, now there is an issue that if at the time of goods delivery no cost estimate was released, then it would not fetch the std cost estimate and hence would not post to COPA. fetching current cost again would not be correct. How would one tackle this issue.

2. VPRS condition type not used previously. How would the values be captured against the VPRS condition then for the past records.

Please give your valuable suggestions..

HI,

Consider not valuating for those materials using Cost estimate and instead upload Standard cost using KE21N directly for the same parameters.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Pradeep for the response.

So you mean I should not fetch any cost through costing key derivation and with the old validity set the costing key as blank. Please clarify

Did you mean using KE27 Periodic valuation? Would it fetch respective costs for the relevant documents?

Also, I guess KE21N cannot be executed for multiple documents. The past data is voluminous.

Also, how about VPRS. would VPRS also be fetched through KE21N?

Hi,

Since, you say no Cost estimate and no VPRS condition details availble for your past SD documents..I've visualized like this:

1. Post past SD billing documents using KE4S without Cost derivation. Only Revenue is transferred, since you are not accessing Costs using Costing key for these set of materials.

2. Post Cost (COGS) details through KE21N upload, may be use a LSMW, for the same set of Characteristics, so that on aggregation your COGS is matched against Revenue say in your KE30 reports.

This work around may involve some work for you to compile details before you upload. If you really want to purse this approach, you can use KEFC transaction to upload the data, instead of using KE21N/LSMW.

No, I did not mean KE27 (Periodic valn). KE27 is to bring the current valuation periodically, whereas you want (old) COGS matching revenue posted in the past.

Or, try this-

Since your COGS details availble in COGS GL account posted during SD PGI, create COGS GL as CE of category '1' and transfer PGI docs to CO-PA using KE4SMM. You have to make sure that SD PGI PA segment consists all Characteristic relevant for your Profitability analysis. PA transfer structure to map COGS CE to COGS Value field.

Or, if possible try if you can create Cost estimates for these materials from past validity date using a new Variant (which does not update to Material), so that you can access using differnt Costing key at the time of tranfer.

Please do proper analysis and testing in your Development system, before taking the plunge.

Post back if you have any questions.

Hope this helps.
