Career&Succession Plng- PD vs ERecruitment Succession Plng vs Nakisa

Former Member

I have been using the Succession Planning model in EREC 6.0 and works fine.

Heard recently from a colleague that the EREC succession planing model is going to be obsolete with the future releases of support packs.

With this in mind, is the only option for new clients considering C&S planning to

1. Implement the SP from within EREC, if they are using EREC uing the Talent Development Specialist role?

2. Consider buying Nakisa

3. Use the old PD model and create custom webdynpro front end screens?

Thoughts appreciated. Is there a strategy document somewhere that can be shared?

Thanks,

Hi Sunil

As of EHP4, that's correct. C&S has been pulled out of Recruiting, however I'm a little uncertain what you're asking. The SAP Career and Succession Planning module is complete even without Nakisa.

SAP ECC provides a number of ABAP based Web Dynpros that make up the bulk of the module. However, they didn't create a Web Dynpro for Succession Planning. For that, they relied on Nakisa's interface (which is, of course, very nice). If you as a customer decided to go away from acquiring Nakisa licenses, SAP does provide a solution, but the transaction is basically a sibling of PPOME (it's actually transaction HRTMC_PPOM). Short of that Succession Planning interface that's more or less 'portal based', the SAP solution is quite slick. That's not to say Nakisa and SAP aren't connected in any way but Succession Planning, they definitely are. They share quite a bit of data with eachother.

Anyway, to answer your question (at least I think I"m answering it), I think you've got options beyond customizing the whole thing if you don't want to acquire the Nakisa licenses. That's pretty much an off the top of my head riff, so just holler at me if you think I've been unclear about anything or have missed your point completely.

This document I think is a pretty good summary of what's contained in EHP4:

https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700001874962008E

If you're interested in moving data over from an earlier EREC solution to ECC, note 1272565 details your options.

Cheers,

Chris
