Dear pp gurus,

In routing , I have defined the operations .

Although i know that in operation the set up , machine time, labour time is define, which helps in costing.

but wat exactly is set up, machine and labour time?

If suppose 10 people work for 8 hrs and make 50 pc of a product in one day. how should i define the above parameter

thanks in advance

Hi,

Set Up time = The time required for "Machine" to be in Workable Condition, this initial time is setup,

Like If you are using Oven for Drying, Your initial time would start from pushing start Button, making temperature settings required, and probably wait for the Oven to reach the temp. and then start the operation. So this Time is Set Up time. AND this time is only Once in Scheduling per Order.

If your work center is Labor work center, as said in ur ex here. you dont need the setup time for labors except if it is required to make them workable by making them feed TEA .. jocks apart, we dont use set up time for labors.

As per ur eg now:

" If suppose 10 people work for 8 hrs and make 50 pc of a product in one day. how should i define the above parameter"

Here 10 is Your No of capacities, Time available 8 Hrs (Work Center), and quantity is 50 Pc (In routing)"

When we say quantity, is your Base quantity is 1 or 50 ? if it is 1, in operation of routing, you need to put the time to process according to your base quantity.

Machine time is to process each base quantity every time, used by Machine,

Labor Time is the time labor used this machine to process base quantity.

Hi,

In your query, 10 people means No of individual capacities, 8 hrs means productive hours after excluding breaks, like lunch, tea break, efficiency means like 90% or 95% usually it will be 7.2hrs capacity utilisation, considering this utilisation, the time extends more than a day. Re the work.g Set up time, time required to start the exact work, getting tools etc, machine time means time reuired to finish the work and the labour time, time required for the labour to complete the work.
