SAPGUI for Windows 7.20: Release Date

I cannot find any official documentation of the release date except

Hinweis 147519 - Wartungsstrategie und Support-Termine für SAP GUI

which states "march/april".

When will the concrete date be announced?

My collegues ask me frequently for the new GUI because they are preparing a test environment with Win7 + Office 2010 and need GUI 7.20 to match the compatibility requirements...

Kind regards, Rudi

I know that SAPgui 720 will run on Windows 7 / Office 2010(32 bit)

but are XP / Office 2003 and XP / Office 2010(32bit) also supported?

Thanks

Hello,

as an entry point please visit the [SAP GUI Family page|] and search for "Support Matrix for SAP GUI for Windows" and "Important Notes".

Hi...

I am using the new version and I found two problems with this new version. First, in SAP Editor, the reserved words are not writen in upper case. This happens only when you click in Pretty Printer. Second, in ALV, the zebra is not working.

Anybody have the same problem?

Morning has broken in Walldorf ...

... but still no 7.20 in the SWDC ...

BTW: Note 147519 - Maintenance strategy / deadlines 'SAP GUI' was always my source of information and

still quotes April 6 AND April 12 as release date in its current ENGLISH version.

Kind regards, Rudi

Hi Rudi, I am curious: have you tried running the 7.10 GUI on Win 7 in XP compatibility mode? I've heard mention of others doing that with some success. I realize this is not a perfect solution, but if your goal is to deploy Win 7, perhaps that would help remove one roadblock?

Hi there,

I am using SAPGUI 7.10 (with Patch gui710_16-10002995) with Windows 7 (32bit) and Office 2007.

Works nearly perfect, execpt some dual-monitor issues...

On my second monitor the buttons in the top right (minimize, maximze and close) do not apear...

A friend of mine is using the same setup, execpt Windows 7 (64bit) with no issues, except he cant print,

because there are no printer drivers for Windows 7 (64bit) for our old Laserjets...

Also business explorer and excel work fine in Windows 7.

Greetings

Jan

We have a project to build and test a new "standard PC configuration" as a follower of our Windows XP + Office 2003 + GUI 7.10 Patch 5.

The plan is: Windows 7 + Office 2010 + compatible SAPGUI, which is 7.20 Patch x

As the deadline is end of 2010 there is not yet much pressure...

But there are collegues already testing and of course having problems with GUI 7.10. THEY DO WAIT for 7.20.

But SAP does not tell when...

Currently I see April 6 AND April 12 in the same note 147519.

It would be very much appreciated when a SAP official could clear up this mess.

Kind regards, Rudi

First of all: Note 147519 is the correct source for this kind of information.

We always try to keep it up to date with the newest data.

Please use the english version to get the last update, the German version will be translated, so it is not always up to date, but in this case (as it is today) there is a warning: "Hinweis in Sprache DE nicht aktuell".

Now back to SAPGUI: It is released today as mentioned in the note, it should be visible on service marketplace at the latest tomorrow.

Thanks, Rudolf. I'll be on the lookout for it today/tomorrow.

Hi Rudi,

Note u201C1412821 - SAP GUI for Windows: Support on Windows 7u201D says:

SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 which will be shipped by the end of March 2010

So it seems that we have to wait less than 4 weeks.

In my Company we are waiting the 7.20 for the same reason: our Windows 7 deployment project is in hold.

That' the point: There is a bunch of SAP notes where release dates are stated. But they are not consistent.

Latest finding: 147519 - Maintenance strategy / deadlines 'SAP GUI'

says "7.20 is scheduled for shipment on 6th of April 2010"

Let's see if this date, which for the first time states a specific day, will be correct.

Still uncertain and somewhat confused,

Rudi
