cProject email notifications - is workflow needed?

Former Member

Hi Folks,

My requirement is to send e-mail notifications from cProjects (v 4.5) based on certain events. For example, when a task is assigned to a resource a notification needs to be sent out to the resource notifying them of the assignment or when an approval is started the decision makers should be notified.

I understand that there are some sample workflows to achieve this kind of requirement. My question is, is there a way to generate these kinds of notifications using standard cProjects without using SAP Workflow? If yes, appreciate you advise on how this can be done.

Thanks,

Lashan

Hi Lashan,

It seems that you explored a lot on this scenario.....

I hope you know that for sending any emails we need to interface the web server to our SAP instance. Hence, Without Workflow it is not possible to send email to non SAP user.....Thatz why SAP has already defined a standard workflow for all kind notificaiton what ever the module may be.....

Hope it will be clear for you..

Thanks for the response Vetri. I do not neet send notifications to externals at this stage. If it's internal users do I still need workflow? I did find some options for this in transaction BSVX which implies that no workflow is needed OR do I need to have this configuration in place for using workflow?

I know that for evaluations and threshold violation alerts no workflow is needed. So it appears that some notifications are done via Workflow and some are not.

hi,

As far as I know U can send the emails to resources about their allocation thru standard CPR notification. Check the dropdown at the top of table view in resource allocation. U can send this manually by clicking on send notification to SAP inbox or outlook inbox.

About sending notification to decision maker also same is applicable.

Check the standard workflow available with CPR.

Looks like the standard workflow needs to be used for the requirement.
