Hi,
Can any one please tell me the difference between the Professional edition and Developer Edition of Crystal Reports XI R2.
What are the pros and cons in both of these editions and which one is more better than the other?
Thanks $ Regards,
Anu
Hello Anu,
The main difference is that the Developer edition is used for application development - VB6, ASP, .NET - both Windows and Web. CR XIR2 Developer edition comes with the licensing that is needed to develop applications using the Crystal Reports runtime components, as well as the licensing for application deployment (subject to some limitations).
Otherwise, the two editions are essentially the same.
Please note that most of the runtime components in CR XIR2 have been retired with the release of CR2008 (latest version). CR2008 supports .NET or Java (CRJ) application development. The COM components (RDC with VB6 / ASP) have been retired and removed from this newer version.
Sincerely,
Dan Kelleher
