What are all of the possible uses of a value table for a domain?

I know it can be used for purposes of translating domain text but what are the other uses of it?

Some folks have been asking why the answers are downvoted, so here you go. Sorry, this answer just doesn't make much sense. "You can select all the possible input" - we can select fixed domain values too. How is this "another use of value table"? "It will effect all the tables..." - this does not pertain specifically to the value table. Domain affects all the data types where it is used. It doesn't matter if there are fixed values or value table or no values in the domain at all.
