Perhaps this is a very fundamental question. But I believe the answer from practising persons would be in simple words to understand when comapred to help links on this subject.
Many times answers to my problems in SDN fora end-up with suggestions to use some User-Exit.
How to use these? Does this subject fall into ABAP area OR any common PM authorisation (like mine) will do for using these Exits.
Would be thankful if someone explains in simple terms.

Hi Rao,
In simple words, As per SAP there is standard program for each process , during this process
based on the business requirement we need to add some additional check to be perform there is some standard user exits available which can be added to main program as a check based on the requirement.
nomally functional team will tell which user exit will help to add this functionlity then abap team will add this.
if your OK both tech and functional you can do your self also.

User-exit is a generic term often mistakenly confused for enhancement spots, BADIs, user-exits, customer-exits, program-exits, business transaction events, etc. All of the above allow you to enhance the SAP standard ABAP code to suit your own business requirements.
Typically the functional consultants/business reps will create a Functional Specification document to outline the business requirements. The ABAP team then create a Technical Specification document and write the respective ABAP code. The ABAP code is then tested thoroughly to ensure it meets the business requirements.
