Consumption Based MRP

Former Member

Hi,

We are running consumption based MRP using MRP Type as VB. We run consumption based MRP daily. In this, when ever there is change in stock level due to consumption, the system reschedules the old schedules also. We don't want to disturb the old schedules generated by MRP as we confirm the vendors as a Firm Schedule.

Can you please guide me on how i can run consumption based MRP daily and not tamper old schedules.

Regards

Shankar

Hi Shankar,

If created PRs are less in qty firm them manually by flagging check box Fixed Id in Quantities/Dates tab.

If there are more PRs you have to use LSMW to firm them.

Hi,

As I know MRP can change unfirmed procurement proposals.

If your procurement proposals are not firmed MRP may change them unless you use suitable planning time fence:

I do not undrstand fully your problem - do you inform your vendor about procurement proposals given by SAP? Please explain this.

Dear CSaba,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

We use two type of MRP.

One we use MRP Type P1 along with PTF(planning time fence) which is derived from the demand of our finished goods we feed in MD61. Our PTF is 30 days. This is for all the materials which are fast moving. This we run once a month.

But for certain slow moving items, we use MRP Type as VB. This we run on a daily basis. He we are not able to give any PTF as it works only with P1 and not with VB.

Both these schedules are displayed in our Portal on daily basis as firmed order and the vendor despatches material by posting ASN (Advance shipping Notification). Though P1 works fine, but as VB MRP is run daily, the schedules gets rescheduled to future date i.e today for the same part number it would generate a schedule for 100 pcs to be delivered on 10.03.2010 but tomorrow if I consume 5 Pcs, based on lots size and other parameters it reschedules the same schedule to 11.03.2010 with 105 Pcs.

Hi Shankar,

Something is not clear to me.

Both these schedules are displayed in our Portal on daily basis as firmed order

- if a requisistion / planned order is firmed MRP should not modify it. MRP can give a suggestion to reschedule it, but rescheduling has to be done manually (in standard system)

- if it is already an order, MRP cannot modify it also

Do you inform your vendor on PldOrd / PuRReqs or on issued POs? In my opinion PldOrd, PurReq is internal information, vendor should get POs.

Or are you going to use something else?

Thanks,

Csaba

We are using scheduling agreement and after running MRP Schedule lines are generated.

Based on the demand, date wise schedules are generated in ME38. These schedules are then published in our portal.

We don't have any PRs.

Hi Shankar,

SAP online help:

http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/1a/8b4bbecdd74536acd4e970faaf6e2d/frameset.htm

SAP recommends working with scheduling agreements with release documentation.

...

Use a document type for scheduling agreements with release documentation. In the standard system, document type LPA is supplied for this purpose. (In the standard system, the Release docu. indicator is selected for document type LPA in Customizing for Purchasing under Scheduling Agreement à Define Document Types.)

...

It is sensible to carry out the planning run daily and generate releases (delivery schedules) automatically once a week, for example. You can set up the system in such a way that releases are generated for changed scheduling agreement items (materials) only.

http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/3b/66596bda7b11d1b6330000e8a738dc/frameset.htm

Scheduling agreement releases provide information to vendors regarding the quantities of a material that are to be delivered and the desired delivery dates. A scheduling agreement release enables you to record the current status of the lines of a delivery schedule stored in the system for a scheduling agreement item and then transmit this status to the vendor.

Are you using release SA release?

It seems this is the solution for your problem

Csaba
