SAP MDM Versions

Hi Experts,

Can some one tell me the different versions of SAP MDM which are released until now and the basic/major differences between the versions.??

HI,

Different version of MDM are

1. MDM 2.0

2. MDM 3.0

3. MDM 5.5

4. MDM 7.1

MDM 2.0 and 3.0 were kind of add in to ECC and as per my knowledge they are not available and supported now. MDM 5.5 was introduced in Late 2005 or early 2006. Its architecture was totally different from 2.0 and 3.0 and was a seperate kind of server designed in C++. after 5.5, 7.1 version was introduced and was generally available to customer in second quarter of 2009. It has some good enhancement over 5.5 in different area like transport, repository modelling, webservices, portal integration, publication etc.

There are some good documents available on SDN regarding enhancement on MDM 7.1. Please go through them and let me know if you have any quesion.

Can u elaborate on the different Support packs that were available in 5.5 and 7.1 .

MDM 5.5 SP06 is the latest support pack available with 5.5.

For MDM 7.1, different support packs available are :

1. SP01

2. SP02

3. SP03

4. SP04 (latest)

MDM 7.1 SP04 contains a lot enhancements over SP03, especially like Web server configurator, Dynpro Configurator, etc.
