BOBJ and SAP

We would like to integrate between BOBJ and SAP BW.

Other than SAP Integration kit for BOE XI 3.1, we need also SAP JCo.

On Ingo's blog, he mentioned that he is using SAP JCo 2.1.8

I went into the SAP website and the SAP JCo 2.1.8 has gone. We have SAP JCo 2.1.9 now.

Question.

If I understand correctly, SAP Jco 2.1.9 is not supported on Windown 2008?

Can we use 64bit X86 SAP JCo 2.1.9?

OR

we should use64bit X86 SAP JCo 3.0.4?

Our server is sitting on the VMWare. It is running on Window Server 2008, 64bit.

Please advise, thank youi.

Hi lynn,

You need the SAP JCo 2.1.8 which is of version 32bit for BO. Check it in the archives if you find the same.

Or

Else download any higher version of Jco which is compatible with your OS as well, but make sure its of 32bit.

Rupali,

Thanks for the input.

Dont understand why you say it should be 32Bit?

Is it because BO components is design based on 32Bit? OR is the 32Bit here refer to my OS?

We 're on Window Server 2008, 64bit.

So please advise exactly which SAP JCo we should use?

Thank you,

Hello,

BOE is a 32bit application. So you need the 32bit version of the 2.1.8 jco.

You can get it from service.sap.com/connectors -> SAP Java Connector -> Tools & Services

SAP JCo 2.1.x is for usage outside of a SAP Application Server Java only. Furthermore the last digit in the version number is only the patch level, so you may of course use 2.1.9 instead of 2.1.8.

For further information on JCo 2.x please see note [549268|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/549268].

More information on JCo configuration and requirements can be found in note [723562|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/723562], also the info that not the bit width of the operating system matters but only the bit width of the JVM (the process you are running).

Sebastian,

Thanks for confirmation.

Since BOE is build on 32bit application, I would assume it still can run on Window Server 2008, 64bit machine?

I read the BOE XI 3.1 SP3 - Suppported Platform, it says it support Window Server 2008, 64bit.

Please confirm.

Thank you.

Hi,

i guess you mean BOE XI3.1 SP2 and not SP3 ?!

But you are right. You can install BOE XI 3.1 SP2 on a 64bit Hardware machine with a 64bit OS. BOE XI3.1 will run under the 32bit Kernel.

Please note also that you need 32bit middleware like DB2 Client, Oracle Client etc.
