Schedule Custom reports in BPC7

Hi experts,

We have several reports in reports library. I want to schedule them so that they will be updated and saved back to reports library again. We have all the dimension members already setup on those reports. Is there any way that we can do this without going through Book Reports Scheduling. We dont want to go through book reporting because it wont let us create a schedule on server, it creates it on local machine and we need to be logged in to the system for it to run.

Thanks,

Mandar.

Hi,

What action do you want to schedule, exactly? What kind of update are you talking about here?

I dont think it is possible to update the template automatically.

Nilanjan,

Those reports have simple EVGET formulas. Everyday the numbers in that EVGET intersections get updated by end users. We have to maintain these reports such a way that we can update reports atleast once in a day and save them back with updated numbers. The big trouble here is there are more than 20 reports and it takes lot of time to update them manually and save back. We tried using book publishing but it doesnt have any option to save back the reports in excel format on server. I hope i could explain the scenario here.

Thanks,

Hi,

I dont think we can do anything else other than saving them individually into the server.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am a little bit confused because I dont; understand why you have to save the book back to server. This should save if you change something on the structure level, not to update the numbers. In fact, I think you need to publish the book time to time.

It is true that book publication is creating the job locally on the client machine. I have answered to other topic regarding this scheduler, please have a look here:

Nilanjan/Mihaela,

It is now very much clear to me. So, probably i can have those reports saved on my machine locally and i can schedule a job to refresh them. the reason that we want to do this is, we look after these reports almost twice in a week and the process to refresh all the reports takes more than one and half hour. So, we thought probably we can automate this process and have reports ready.

Book publishing functionality doesnt have ability to save the reports back in excel format, right? is there any way that we can trigger the process to update the numbers on reports and save them back?

Thank you very much for your responses.
