Hi all,
Since CRS 2008 is not a clustered environment, why would you choose to use nodes? What benefits do they offer?
Kind regards,
Janice
Hi Jan,
CRS is just a scaled down version of BusinessObjects Enterprise. Nodes are used because they are a core piece of the architecture and it would not have been worth the risks of changing the code to remove/hide them from CRS.
That's the reason you see them. One benefit that I can think of is:
- You could create a node called: "XtraWebi" and have additional Webi Processing Servers added to this node. You could then bring this node up if/when you needed additional Webi Processing Servers. Since the SIA is a Windows Service, you can easily automate starting/stopping that node.
Anyways, I'm sure you could use them to help you more effectively manage the different groups of services that CRS manages.
Hope this helps,
Thanks
Jb
