Original value date of trnsaction (ABNAN)

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to see what original value date of transaction was applied when a post-capitalization to an asset was posted (ABNAN). Asset value date in financial document, in this case, is always changed to a first day of the posting year, while original value date introduced in ABNAN seems to be lost forever, once used for calculation of the depreciation.

This seems a bit basic, but I really don't see the way to retrieve this value, once the transaction is posted.

Am I missing something and this value is present somewhere?

Yes Eli, got the push from community folks after attending the Tech Ed this year in Bangalore ☺️

May be use a sub-Asset for each such post cap. It will be easier to manage and you can rely on the capitalisation date

Yes, of course... a best-practice solution would be using sub-assets, but it is not the case at my client's.

It looks awkward to me that such an essential value of a transaction is not stored anywhere and could be only re-calculated (not obviously, I must say) by analysing depreciation amounts posted with the document.

Hi Eli

I don’t have a direct answer. But if you created an asset from AS01 with post-cap tick ON, the capitalisation date field is mandatory. You would enter the same date here which you enter as value date in ABNAN

One alternate way of back tracking it would be to reconcile the amount of depreciation posted during ABNAN

Long time no see 🙂 Yes, from AS01 it would be the same as capitalization date and there is no problem there. But, I'm asking about a sequential post-cap for a capitalized asset, where the date (UBZDT) would be different from the capitalization date.
