No material doc inspection lot 08 type

Experts,

For a material, we have 08 type of lots in system (3-4 months old) but

1. 08 type was never activated (thoroughly investigated material changes MM04)

2. 04 was activated but lot not created.It was active at time of GR.

3. Inspection lot does not have a material document, I assume that it means it is manually created BUT type 08 was never activated and if it is manual then system should let us cancel it, right? but that is greyed out.

I cannot re create this scenario in any of my system.

Hello Akash,

1. Why 04 lots were not generated since it was active in MM and 0800 lot got generated (note states that if QA08 is used to assign 08 lot then it will be generated)

Please note that only 0800 (as per config) is used in case where quality inspection stock is available w/o inspection lot (this happens when No inspection is active in material master but qm relevent material mvt. are posted for ex. 655) and user tries to activate any stock-relevant inspection type using QA08 Tcode - new inspection lot with inspection type 0800 is created.

2. Is there any rule, where 0800 lot, assigned at plant level will take priority over material master lot?

for any quality stock which is not assigned to lot will be taken care of by 0800 only (as per config). material master inspection type never comes into picture in this case

3. How to add inspection plan to 0800 lots ? are they only for UD?

go to config setting of 'Default values for inspection type' . check task list indicator.

create inspection plan with relevant usage

now repeat above case to generate 0800 lot , inspection plan will get attached.

Could you please check SAP Note 1036872 - 'Significance of inspection type 0800 unclear'?

It can be a root cause for automatically generated inspection lots of origin 08.

Adding

There is no way to add inspection plan to this lot, How can we add results ?

We can not give UD without RR.

Hello Akash,

This may be caused due to Config setting 'plant dependent QM setting'

Check value infield 'InspTypeForInspStock' , by default it is 0800 inspection type

Inspection Type for Available Stock in Quality Inspection

The system creates inspection lots using the inspection type entered here, if quality inspection stock is available when a stock-relevant inspection type is activated using QA08 Tcode"Mass change of QM inspection setup". inspection lots are created in the background that manage the already available inspection stock. This applies to quality inspection stock, which is not managed by inspection lots

Thank you! Great observation and I think this has what happened but can you please answer few more queries,

1. 04 lot was active and post to inspection was checked, why 04 was not created.

2. In what cases 0800 lots are created? I tried F1 help but couldn't understand much.

Is there any case where it takes priority over material master?

We have raised this issue to SAP as well. Ill keep this forum posted if they found a bug.
