How to change customer requirement from sea to air freight?

Hi,

we have a scenario where regular requirements are coming in by EDI as delivery schedules against a customer scheduling agreement.

Item 10

Schedule line 1 Qty 50

Schedule line 2 Qty 100

But sometimes there is a need to send a partial qty by air freight. The request for air freight is coming in as a custom message.

Item 10

Schedule line 1 Qty 50 --> whereof 10 by air freight

Schedule line 2 Qty 100

Problems are 1. Incoterms, shipping condition and route is on item level so we cannot differentiate on same item, and 2. The regular delivery schedule isn't reduced by customer when sending the request for a partial qty by air freight.

I have considered creating a separate sales order for the 10 pcs to be sent by air freight based on the request. Question is then how to keep the qty in the delivery schedule updated accordingly?

Any other ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks and regards,

Magnus Frankell

If qty in the first delivery schedule line is 50 pcs and we get an air shipment request for 10 pcs the proper thing would be to reduce the qty in the delivery schedule with 10 pc. However, next day we might once again get a delivery schedule for same material. Then once again we should consider the air shipment request and reduce the qty. Not sure how this could be automically in a consistent way.

Could you elaborate your question - how to keep the qty in the delivery schedule updated accordingly?
