Hi Gurus,

Can anyone guide me to detailed steps, how to configure a Bi-Product. What settings and procedures we need to follow?

I am unable to find any documentation on this. Please help me.

    Hi Vijay,

There is no as such separate setting for By Product... The only thing u need to do is maintain the material as negative quantity in ur BOM. and while doing Goods movement, u can post this material with movement type "531". System will create a Stock for this material.

e.g.: You have a finished good "A" and raw material "B" and a by product "C".

Now ur BOM will be as below.

    Header Material "A" = 1pc

    BOM Component

    Raw Material "B" = 2 pc

    By Product "C" = -1Pc

Then system will consume 2 Pc of "B" and generate 1 Pc of "C".

    Hope it solve ur problem.

    Thanks

    Dear Vijay,

    1) There is no seperate configuration required for By-Product

    2) Just maintain in BOM as Negetive qty

    3) so while doing confirmation, ur By-product will be received Via 531 movment type

    Regards

    Hi,

There is no special setting for Bi product.

You need to mention material with negative qty in BOM. System will genrate stock of the bi product with ratio to the qty mentioned in BOM with movement 531.

    Regards,

    Vishal

    Hi

    - In material master in MRP 2 view tick the Bi-product indicator.

    - In BOM maintain the bi-product as a line item with negative quantity.

    - Create production order for the header material and perform the confirmation.

    - Create GR for the Bi-product material using the movement type: 531.

The material valuation of a by-product is always based on the price specified by price control in the material master.

but, in another discussion, Ananth Shukla mentioned not to use 'co-product' indicator for bi-products.

    Go to this link: co-product-costing

Ctrl+F -> copy & paste "Do not set the indictor Co-product for by-products." and press ENTER.

Can you please confirm which one is correct?

      Hi,

Yes he is right Co -product indicator is used if you want to mention material as Co product .

In yours case you want to use Bi product so no need to tick that indicator.

As mentioned above you not need to do any setting for bi product.

      Vishal
