Unable to Connect to Oracle DB with BOE XI

We've been having issues trying to run our report which connects to an Oracle database. We have the 10g (10.2) client installed and the test connections in the ODBC and SQL Plus work fine. Running these reports work using Crystal Reports designer.

Running these reports do not work in Business Objects Enterprise XI. It fails every time with an error code of Database Vendor Code: 12154. After looking around on various sites, I saw that people were recommending that we check the TNSnames.ora file and we have. Everything looks correct in there. If it was incorrect, I would think that the connection would fail in Crystal Reports and in the ODBC test.

Hi

if the BOBJ server is installed on a 64 bit server please make sure that the 32bit Oracle driver is installed.

Do you have more than one Oracle installations on the BOBJ server?

No, just one.

We also tried using the native Oracle connection in Crystal Reports designer and that works fine. When we import it into Business Objects enterprise, it gives us the same error.

Hi

can you please try creating an environment variable ORACLE_HOME containing the path to your client installation and reboot your server?

It looks like it didn't work.

I might also add that we were also having problems with some reports connecting to SQL. I had to add NT AUTHORITY/ANONYMOUS LOGON login to SQL Server 2005.

I don't know if that has to do with anything.

Do you run the SIA using the Local system account?

What do you mean by SIA?

Is that a service I should be looking for in the Services?

Which version of BOBJ do you use exactly?

When I go into the settings, I can see Product Version: 11.0.0.2205.

IWenn this is a rather old version not sure if Oracle 10g is supported. But anyway can you please try to set another environment variable (system-ide like ORACLE_HOME) called TNS_ADMIN and set as value the path to your TNSNAMES.ORA file (do not include the name of the file just the path). Please reboot after you add the variable.

That's strange because we are moving from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects Enterprise 11 and the reports work fine in the older Crystal Enterprise 10.

We'll try what you suggested and let you know what happens.

We added the environment variable and it looks like it didn't work.

The connection to Oracle works fine in Crystal Reports Designer and in the ODBC test.

I just think that Enterprise doing something different with the connection. There's something that Enterprise is doing wrong when it's trying to connect its reports to Oracle and I can't figure out what that is.
