Report with Arabic Data - Export to PDF

Former Member

Hi,

I am using crystal report 2008 ( version: 12.0.0.683), The database is SQL Server 2005, connected to the database using OLE DB.

Most of my data are in ARABIC language including Tashkeelia (تنوين, Means dots, arabic formatting letters by pressing shift Key).

I can View all the data including these formatting letters by previewing or even from the application. Everything ok.

But when I export these reports to PDF by using Crystal report export engine, some additional letters are appearing in the report, and mostly spaces are converted to other letters. If I am exporting by using ADOBE PDF writter ( Printer version) all are OK.

Please tell me how can solve this issue ?

Regards,

Riyas

Hello Riyas

From your description I am not sure if this happening in the Crystal Reports designer, or from a .NET app (this forums is for .NET apps). In any case. The first thing you want to do is ensure you have the latest fixes for CR 2008. Service Pack 2 is here;

https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009038092009E/cr2008win_sp2.exe

Then, apply Fix Pack 2.4:

https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100001024152010E/cr2008_fp24.zip

This will get yo the latest updates. If that does not help and the issue is in the CR designer, please post your query to the Report Design forum;

Dear Mr. Ludek Uher,

Thankyou verymuch for your valued reply,

This problem is happening from both Asp.net and CR Designer, I have tried preview from designer and to export to PDF. In both cases the problem exist.

I did the latest updates as you suggested. That will not resolve my Issue.

Expecting favourable replies from the forum and your side.

Thanks and Regards

Riyas.

What font are you using? Try to use a different font. Crystal seems to have difficulties with pdf exports of certain fonts (e.g., Calibri) though the problem seems to be sporadic (perhaps depending on printer driver or installed fonts).
