Hello ,
i need one information, in universe designer(IDT or UTD ) if it's possible to join derived table and normal table (database table )? how to join bouth table ?
give me any example
Thanks,
Ramesh
Joining derived table and database table is same as joining two tables in universe designer or data foundation. If you know how to set join between two tables then same way you can join dervied table and othe rtable.

Hi Ramesh,
Would like to give you a scenario which could make you more clear further if you have doubt on derived table in designer.
Ex:
Scenario: For instance, suppose we have mapped 40 tables in a designer using joins and in the last moment, business user have a requirement to get few more data in the report. Now, when you check the designer, you don't have all the required field in any of the mapped tables but in the dB we have tables like Table A, Table B and Table C, from where we need to fetch a single field from each table like Sales Profit, Shipment Date and Sales Loss.
Solution: In normal way, you can drag and drop the tables and further map them with rest of the tables. But this would make the designer more complex and chaos to understand due to more tables and more number of joins. So, the best practice would be creating a derived table in the designer using the SQL statement and in that way, we can get all the required fields under a single table and we can map it further with other tables and finally meet the business requirements.
Note: Even though derived tables degrade the performance, but as of the business requirements and making the universe clear and chaos free we can use it.
Comment: Hope you have now full clearance in derived table concept in the designer.
