SAP CAL: BW 7.5 on HANA (developer edition) instance: Systems not reachable

I have created and rebooted BW 7.5 on HANA (developer Edition) instances all week and the result is always that I cannot log on to the BW System and the HANA database. I am using AWS and have tried different regions. Is there a general problem at the Moment with creating an instance of this solution?

Thanks in advance,

Roland

Hi Andreas,

Same for me, it seems that env. variables are not configured at all:
sid-a4h D00/exe% ./sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList
Could not open the ICU common library.
The following files must be in the path described by
the environment variable "LD_LIBRARY_PATH":
libicuuc.so.50, libicudata.so.50, libicui18n.so.50 [/bas/745_REL/src/flat/nlsui0.c 1535] pid = 25934
LD_LIBRARY_PATH is currently set to <not set> [/bas/745_REL/src/flat/nlsui0.c 1538] pid = 25934

Kind regards,
Gabriel

Hi Achim,

HANA is starting but SAP is not:
sid-a4h:/usr/sap/HDB/HDB02> sapcontrol -nr 02 -function GetProcessList

GetProcessList
OK

It seems to me that environment variables are not configured:
sid-a4h D00/exe% ./startsap R3
SAPSYSTEMNAME not set

sid-a4h D00/exe% ./sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList
Could not open the ICU common library.
The following files must be in the path described by
the environment variable "LD_LIBRARY_PATH":
libicuuc.so.50, libicudata.so.50, libicui18n.so.50 [/bas/745_REL/src/flat/nlsui0.c 1535] pid = 25934
LD_LIBRARY_PATH is currently set to <not set> [/bas/745_REL/src/flat/nlsui0.c 1538] pid = 25934

This is the message I get during the login:
Last login: Wed Nov 30 11:45:26 2016 from xx.xxx.xx.xx
The Appliance Agent detected an error and terminated.
When asked, please provide the file /tmp/applianceagent_20161126-073309.tar.bz2.

Hi Stanimir,

I tried the new version. After deploying to AWS, everything is ok: SAP GUI connection via RDP is working. Then I installed the trial license for A4H and made the first reboot of the system. Now, no connection is possible via SAP GUI from RDP. Any reboot is useless. It didn't work and i can't find the reason why.

Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Michael

Hello Michael,

I'm currently investigating the issue, could you please provide the /var/log/sap file from the virtual machine, so I can align my findings with the failure that you have experienced.

Best regards,

Atanas

Hi Atanas,

how can I send you the file? It's about 2 MB.

Hi Stanimir,

The SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP and SAP BW 7.5 SP01 on SAP HANA SP10 [Developer Edition] deployed on AWS was working for 90 days after which the server is not running. When we access BW or BPC it says connection refused. The document in the cal.sap.com says the developer license is usually valid for 90 days.

Rohit

Hi Stanimir,

Thank you, it's working again.

But there is still an issue with data displays:
InfoObject Master Data: Make sure the web address http://vhcala4hci.wdf.sap.corp:50000 is correct.
Hana Studio Reporting Preview: same with port 50001.

Best regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

any update on this. Query execution in the new Query designer in eclipse also ends up in error

http://vhcala4hci.wdf.sap.corp:50001 - page cannot displayed.

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Jürgen

I am seeing the same exact issue. Seems to have been there for the past 5-6 days. I was able to connect before that.

Dear All,

We have revoked the solution ‘SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP and SAP BW 7.5 SP01 on SAP HANA SP10 [Developer Edition]’ as there was a general problem with one of the licenses. Later will post an update when a new fixed version will be available.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Stanimir

Hi Stanimir,

Could you please estimate when it will be back?
I was preparing for a certification...

Could never start SAP from SAPGUI using RDP or local machine. We had the same experience and spent countless hours trying to fix the issues related to SAP not starting using commands like sapstart / sapstop. HANA was up ok.

Hopefully, the system should work just like activating the equivalent ASE instance does...all I had to was request a license and activate it...no command line steps, would that be a possibility?

Saeed

Hello Stanimir,

any news on the update for SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP and SAP BW 7.5 on SAP HANA SP10 Trial.

I've already tried 3 times to deploy this trial on AWS. All ended up with errros.

Hana HTTP access on Port 8002 - Not working (Connection time out)

SAP GUI Access - partner not reached (WSAEWOULDBLOCK: Ressource temporarily unavailable

SSH Access - Error (The Appliance Agent detected an error and terminated.
When asked, please provide the file /tmp/applianceagent_20161207-092704.tar.bz2.)

The only Error I see here is:

error in /tmp/applianceagent/scripts/ConfigAppliance.sh: Prepare and adjust database /tmp/applianceagent/scripts/Database.sh with args '' found, starting to cleanup
starting logcollector since 'Prepare and adjust database' failed Execute /tmp/applianceagent/scripts/logcollector.sh

Any Hint would be much appriciated.

Thanks, Best Axel.

Hi all,

did anybody get this data preview error sorted? ie data preview on any SAP BW object in Eclipse is not working, it just displays the below error message.

Kind Regards, Thomas

I also have the same issue:(

0

Have you mapped the hostname with the right ip in your /etc/hosts file?

0

hi
thanks for your answer:

the hosts file is looking as follows:

#created by appliance agent service 2017-04-14-09-59-46
10.0.1.95 abapci abapci.dummy.nodomain vhcala4hcs vhcala4hcs.dummy.nodomain vhcala4hci vhcala4hci.dummy.nodomain vhcalhdbdb vhcalhdbdb.dummy.nodomain
10.0.1.96 frontend frontend.dummy.nodomain

the file has not been changed by me. ...95 is the internal IP address, ...96 is the frontend internal IP address

any suggestions are welcome

0

Hi Thomas,

it seems you discovered a problem with the domain name. You can test this by replacing "dummy.nodomain" with "wdf.sap.corp" in the hosts file of the Windows frontend (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts). Please note that those changes are overwritten during the next OS boot process.

Can you please describe how you try to preview the SAP BW objects in Eclipse (Perspective, tab....) or point to releavant documentation? This would allow to CAL to perform tests before the solution is fixed.

Best Regards,

Achim

Hi Achim,

thanks for the quick reply. Your approach worked, I am now able to use the preview functionality.

The easiest way to check is to create an openODSview on a table and open the datapreview.

So open perspective BW Modeling -> New OpenODSView->Semantics: Facts Source Type: Table or View and then enter some table name

Thanks again and best regards, Thomas
