Material Master Approval

Hi Friends,

We have a requirement. Can anyone help us with the best optimal way to achieve below two points.

1) If any material created it should get blocked and go for an approval. Block for all the activities in SAP. Once approved it should get released and start working.

2) If some user is changing an material in MM02, it may be any field throughout the material master.

It should go for an approval for a concerned person with details what the user has changed and then once it is approved it should get clear and the user can access further for transaction data

Hi Madhu,

You can fulfill your requirement by making transaction variant and assign the user who is creating the Material master record, with mandatory input in the field "X-Plant Material Status" = 01(Blocked for all activity), and create one more transaction variant for the user whom you want to approve this material with removing this field, so in that way user cannot use the material until the field value has been removed by the authorized person & all the changes have been record for treacability!

Thanks for the inputs Ankur,

But how about my 2 point.

Once material is created then it is approved, once again some user again changed the data in material master through MM02 this need to go again for approval for management with changes.

Same user means the user who created Material Master record, if he gonna make changes then you can use the different transaction variant for MM02, for approver the same variant will work in your second query!
