Hi,
I need to add an extra field to a FI report. The field is Product Category.
Through which table should i fetch the data? Is item category and product category the same?
Regards,
Nechur.
Hi,
Product groups are not equal to Item categories
Material groups are nothing but Product groups
VBRP - MATKL
This is INVOICE >>> ITEM DATA >>> ITEM DETAIL >>> MATERIAL GROUPS

Hi
Double check and clarify ..
product category is equivalent to material Group in SRM
product category - SRM Comm_category = Material Group ECC - t023(table in ECC)

Is item category and product category the same?
No certainly not. As you would be aware item category determines
a) should pricing be carried out for the item ?
b) when the item be treated as completed ?
c) Are schedule lines are allowed for the item ?? etc.
Like this, many factors are being determined based on the item category.
You can consider Product Category as material division which we can see in material master Basic Data1 tab. Let us take an example in the case of Britannia who manufactures products like Biscuits, Cocoa Butter, Frying Oils etc., Here you can treat Biscuits as one product group, Frying Oils as one Product group etc., Under Biscuits, you can have any number of varieties with different tastes but all are considered as biscuits.
Hope you got the difference.
thanks
