Hi,

For the year 2010 we created new cost centrs as a process of realigning old cost cneters, while creating for some of the cost centers we missed to give functional area and for some we gave wrong functinal areas.now postings are posted inside that coscenters.when we generate our report, it is totally wrong becuse initially our costcenters are catageorised as Sales and marketing and Admin and management.but fot new one we wrongly created. now we try to change functional area in cc but system is saying inside got transation data canot change.we can crreate a new cost center and repost to that but inside got many transactions it is imposibel for us, also for cretion of new cc we hav to pass may aproval levels and also this mistake is not made for one it is made for total almost all cost centers. gurus please guide to chnge functinal areas please. yhanks in advance.

HI,

changing functional area within cost center masterdata creates message FH 600 (Transaction data already exists. See long text). Check this long text, it describes what can be done. The message can be maintained in CO-message control.

But anyway, your P&L statement based on functional areas is wrong, so before you change the functional areas, you have to reverse the postings, change the cost centers and post it again.

Best regards, Christian
