Using BADI ME_PROCESS_REQ_CUST to change FRGDT

Has anyone had success using this BADI to change the requisition release date? I'm using method process_item, and when I try to change FRGDT I get the "Error in BAdI ME_PROCESS_OUT / ME_PROCESS_OUT_CUST" MEOUT134 error.

Any suggestions?
