Hi Gurus.
I need advise about product's unit of mease in dairy industry.
Suppose as below.
My client produce the Yoghurts.
The packing and ordering units are box(8EA), box(16EA), and 1EA from Agency'OMS .
How design the material code of the products?
Alt 1) Create 3 Material codes, Base unit is EA and the alt unit is BOX :
A8 - 8EA/Box,
A16 - 16ea/Box,
A - 1EA,
So, A8 8 Units is 8 EA (1BOX)
Alt 2) Create 3 Material codes, Base unit is BOX and the alt unit is EA :
A8 - 1Box/8EA
A16 - 1BOX/16ea
A - 1EA,
So, A8 8 Units is 8 Box (64 EA)
Alt 3) Create 1 Material codes, Base unit is EA and the alt units are 8BOX, 16BOX.
A - 1EA / 8B is box unit for 8EA handling, 16B is another box unit for 16EA handling .
Please give me advise in view of SD, PP, and EWM modules.
Regards.
Hello,
There is a concept called Batch Specific UOM, where base unit of measure is constant but the alternate UOM changes on batch basis, technically characteristic value basis. So, in your Case, EA is bade UOM and Box is batch specific UOM which changes dynamically, Base UOM/Charactertisic Value= Batch specific UOM.
Unfortunately this is only avaible in ERP not IN EWM. However, there is an implicit enhancement can be done using SAP standard Badi.

Hi,
maybe one question. If a customer orders a box of 1 * 16EA are you 100% sure that you will only ship this or should it also be possible to ship 2*8EA boxes instead (e.g. if there is no stock for the 16EA box)?
If you create multiple products, the above will be more complex/not possible. So maybe this would be a question upfront...
