Workitems in UWL

Hi,

Requirement was to include travel request & expense pdf forms in the workitem sent for approval. This is accomplished by sending the form as an attachment.

Issue is once decision is made by the approver, workitem is removed from the UWL and so is the pdf form. Is it possible for the decision to be made so that workflow continues while retaining the workitem in the UWL so that the approver can access pdf form whenever he/she needs it ?

Hi,

The workitem inbox is not the place for persistent data.

Why not simply send the attachment to the users email address.

Hi Rob,

Yes, I agree.

Therefore, I did suggest workarounds one being what you suggested and another being a report, basically a FPM application which can be used by the approvers to query for the said forms. The decision is awaited.

However, is there any provision that allows the workflow to continue while retaining the workitem ?

Hi,

Theoretically you could put the dialog workitem within a loop that never ends, this means that the process will never end.

If I were you I would put a hold on everything. Then gather the new requirements and then choose the best technology to cater to these requirements.

Basically what is happening here is that someone is not able to differentiate between Business Requirement and solution. It is exactly the same as the faux requirement "We need a program to fetch data from 2 tables" instead of the correct one "We need information regarding 2 tables in SAP"
