Dear Asset gurus,
My user accidentally used transaction 20A to retire an asset. To make the matter worse, the transaction didn't create a FI document so when I tried to reverse the document, I got an error message saying that reversal is impossible because of missing accounting document. I was wondering if anyone experienced this issue before and know how to fix it?
Thanks,
Cassandra Wong
Hi,
I did try to use AB08 to reverse the document and that's how I found out that the original retirement posting (transaction type 20A) did not post to FI.
I also ran transaction ABST2 and the report didn't show me any information that indicate the cause of this error. Lastly, I checked our asset accounting setting and confirmed that "Loss/sale retirement G/L account " is populated.
I sent a note to SAP and see if they could help me resolve this issue.
Regards,
Cassandra

Dear Cassandra,
Did you check the asset in asset explorer for any FI postings taken with this asset.
Also, if this is the case and you don`t have a FI document, there should be a difference generated between FI and AA - please check if the book value of the asset appears as a difference in transaction ABST2.
Also take a look at your settings in SPRO Asset Accounting - Integration with general ledger - and see if you have a "Loss/sale retirement G/L account" filled in for the asset class your asset is from.
Hope this helps.

Hi Cassandra,
Did you try transaction AB08 to reverse the asset document?
