Crystalreports or Xcelsius

Hallo,

I want to report on a DB2 Database with Crystalreports or Xcelsius und I would like to know which Software I do need to install to realise this? I thought about SAP BO Data Integrator.

Hi

the SAP BO Integrator is an ETL not a reporting tool.

What are exactly your reporting requirements?

Thank you for your answer.

Folowings: I have many Data tables (Data Quality) in DB2 without schema, and I want to build a new Database schema in the same DB2 and load the Data in this new schema. Than I would like report on this Data with a reportings tool.

Reporting requirements: Graphics and Dashboard.

My quastion is which Business Objects software or tools do I need to Install. At the time I have only DB2.

Hi

first you need to SAP Business Objects Data Services 3.2 (formely known as Data Integrator) in order to load your data into your new schema.

Then you can download and install Crystal Report Designer 2008 V1, XCelsius Designer 2008 V1, BusinessObjects Enterprise Server XI 3.1 BusinessObjects Enterprise Client XI 3.1, BusinessObjects LiveOffice XI 3.1

You have the following options:

1. Build your reports with the CR designer by connecting directly to the database and then use some of those CR reports as data source for XCelsius using Live Office. In this case you need:

BusinessObjects Enterprise or Edge Server XI 3.1

Crystal Report Designer 2008 V1

XCelsius Designer 2008 V1

BusinessObjects LiveOffice XI 3.1

2. Build a universe using the BusinessObjects Client tools (Designer) based on your DB2 database and use this universe as data source for both your CR reports and the XCelisus dashboard (using Query As a Web Service).

BusinessObjects Enterprise or Edge Server XI 3.1

BusinessObjects Client Tools XI 3.1

Crystal Report Designer 2008 V1

XCelsius Designer 2008 V1

your answer was very helpful, thanks alot. But I do have anothor question:

If I do my reporting only with Crystal Report, I mean no Dashboards, do I need to Install

BusinessObjects Enterprise/ Client beside Crystal Report Designer?

Hi

theoretically you can just install the CR Designer and build your reports. The drawback is that the other users will be able to see the report only if they install themselves the CR designer or the CR Viewer(in this case they won't be able to get live data from the DB though).
