Capacity Check when creating Sales Orders - MTO

Folks,

There are work centers on which capacity is a problem all the time. Now, while entering Sales Orders how can we check Capacity situation on the work centers, for the given date (customer requested date), before the Customer Service Rep sends an acknowledgment back to the Customer saying Yes your "request date" can be met?

These are purely Make-to-Order materials I'm talking about. I'm thinking we can create a Production Order directly when the Sales Order is saved, which will check the capacity, warn us of Capacity shortage & there by allowing us to take necessary action. But the problem is, this will happen when the Cust Rep is entering the Order & for capacity purposes, Planner has to intervene.

how can i address this?
