Our laboratory staff often requires small quantities of materials to be pulled from inventory for testing purposes. Currently, they fill out a form and send it via Outlook to the inventory management staff so the material(s) can be pulled for pickup. The inventory staff also runs the MIGO_GI to move the quantity out of inventory.
Filling out the form requires accurate research (and typing) on the part of the lab staff. It is often the case that the form is not filled out correctly (typos, zero-stock of requested batch, batch not in designated storage location, etc).
A solution we're considering is to have the lab staff initiate the MIGO_GI so the request can be qualified in real-time. Inventory levels, material location, batch number, etc would all be verified as the fields in MIGO are populated. If there are issues, running a Check would reveal them instantaneously. It should also be possible for the lab staff to Hold the goods issue so the inventory staff could have more control (they would be the ones to actually Post).
In any case, the objective is to send an email containing all of the necessary details (material, batch, location, requester, document number, etc) to the inventory management staff's Outlook mailbox from MIGO_GI after the lab staff clicks the Hold button.
I should also mention that nobody on our staff is authorized to develop anything in ABAP (no SE access whatsoever). We also don't have any developers here that can access SPRO. In other words, if there is no way to create what I described above without major customization, then please let me know this. At that point, we will need to make a call to our consultant group.
Regardless, describing the requirements here may be helpful to others in the community. It would also help us describe what we need to the consultants.
