For "memory_control", there is a new default value of "smart" (in 16.0 SP03 PL04).
According to SysAdmin Guide Vol 2 -> Automatic Memory Management -> Smart Memory Control, the following parameters are automatically controlled in "smart" mode and should not be explicitly set:
ci_pool_size ci_packet_size ci_max_cmds cap_sqm_write_request_limit cap_sqm_write_msg_limit sqm_cache_size sqm_cmd_cache_size sqt_max_cache_size sqt_max_prs_size spq_cache_size dsi_sqt_max_cache_size dist_sqt_max_cache_size md_sqm_write_request_limit
But when I run "admin config,<param>" on one of these supposedly automatically tuned params, it shows the what look like the old default values.
Should I ignore "admin config" output for automatically tuned params?
Thanks in advance
Ben
Hi Ben -
Yes, you should ignore admin config output as those config parameters are obsolete when smart memory is set - memory allocation is now dynamic for those parameters.

You can. I'm going to submit a recommendation to the documentation team to add some verbage to clarify these parameters are obsolete.

A suggestion to fix 'admin config' output when memory_control is set to 'smart' has been submitted:
