Hi,
When generating a seasonal trend model in SAP APO, how does APO account for history values during the initialization period with a value of zero?
According to APO's formulae for initilization, the seasonal index for a period is:
However, during the ex-post phase, the basic value is calculated as follows:
If a period in the the initilization phase has sales history with a value of zero, this will return a seasonal index value of zero. During the ex-post period, when it tries to use that zero value seasonal index value to calculate the basic value, it will try to divide by zero. APO seems to have some logic for handling this behavior as I've noticed it will either 1) prevent the forecast from running, 2) somehow use more periods in the initilization phase than the described "3 + 1 season" or 3) run the forecast with no issue.
How does APO account for history values during the initialization period with a value of zero?
Hi!
I have the same doubt.
Can someone answer, please?
