schedule lines issue

hi,

(1). first i wanted to know about the role of ATP/availability check while sales order processing is it optional or compulsary check before going to delivery.

(2). when ever we are procesing a sales order, from where we get material availability date with all the dates automatically in the system.

is there any program or bapi that triggers the same by calculating in the back ground and proposes all the dates.

or

where the dates will be considered by the system.

please clarify.

i am strucked by this issue.

regards,

balajia

1). first i wanted to know about the role of ATP/availability check
while sales order processing is it optional or compulsary check before going to delivery.

Activating availability check at sales order level is optional and not compulsory. We can activate availability check at delivery level also. But, if the availability check is not done at order level, the schedule lines will be confirmed for the requested delivery date irrespective of the possibility of delivering the material on that date. So, the business may fail to keep the commitment in delivering the goods.

(2). when ever we are procesing a sales order, from where we get
material availability date with all the dates automatically in the system.

These dates are arrived during delivery scheduling (while carrying avaialbility check). The system always tries to confirm the delivery for the requested delivery date and it carries backward scheduling. Starting with the requested delivery date it deducts all the lead times like transit time, loading time, pick/pack time etc., to arrive the material availability date. If this date is after the current date(lies in future) then the delivery will be confirmed for the requested delivery date. If the material avaialbility date falls older than the current date(lies in the past), then forward scheduling takes place. System adds the lead times required for producing or procuring the material (maintained in material master records) and arrives at the material availability date and adds all the other lead times to arrive the confirmed delivery date.

    Regards,

    Ravi

    Hi,

    For your questions:

    1) The function of availability check is optional, you can set this function from material master data and SD schedule line category;

    2) System will take reservation into account and get the available date based on the calculation of MRP-Run result, it's automatic!

Hope can help you understand it, any concern, please issue a new thread!

    Good luck

    Tao
