Integration of S4 Hana hosted in Cloud with On premise SAP ECC

Hi All,

I am a bit confused as how the Integration using SAP PI/PO takes place between S4 Hana hosted in Cloud and SAP ERP on-premise. I see major blogs recommending to use SAP CP-IS/HCI for such Integrations along with Cloud Connector in place. (We dont want to use SAP CP-IS or HCI)

If I want to use SAP PI/PO for all my Integration needs (Hosted On-premise)

1) Should I deploy cloud connector and route data from SAP PO/PI via Cloud connector, If so do we have any documentation related to this configuration with respect to PI/PO ?

2) I want to create Idoc, proxy based Interfaces between both the ERPs (S4 and ECC). Are there any challenges when data is sent from S4 to On-prem (ECC) where reverse proxy comes in play (If we dont have Cloud connector)

Any help with documentation is really appreciated.
