Advanced Planning discontinued parts

Dear all,

I am using SAP S/4HANA 1709 FPS02 with fully activated Advanced planning.

The user is requiring to replace a material by another one at a certain point in time when stock of the first material goes 0. In replacing the component, the system differentiates whether:

  • exactly one material is to be replaced by one follow-up material (simple discontinuation);
  • a group of materials is to be replaced by another group of materials (parallel discontinuation).

This functionality is possible by setting discontinuation data in view MRP4 and in BOMs accordingly, as explained here:

However, the functionality is related to MRP run while I am using Advanced Planning; when I try to activate certain materials for advanced planning and I configure discontinuation data in BOM, both information are not taken into account during PP/DS heuristics run.

Can someone help me with this process?

Should I transfer discontinuation data via core interface even if materials are not longer transferred via core interface?

Should I manage further master data in Advanced Planning that I am not taking into account?

Thank you.

With best regards,

    Ciao Pietro,

    I am currently facing the same requirement and the current assumption is that this should be automated in S/4 PP so that the simple discontinuation data from MRP4 gets mapped as a corresponding interchangeability group in S/4 PP-DS.

    When not automated this should happen via standard IM but I could not find the corresponding object in CFM1.

    Did you find an adequate solution?

    Thanks & BR
