How to archive documents saved in Enterprise Portal

Is there a way to identify and archive documents saved in Portal so that those with certain characteristics (e.g., based upon age of document or subject matter or other categorization) can be identified and archived? We have a non-SAP document mangement system that we are looking to replace and want to see if Portal is an option.

    Hi,

for doing things like this you must have an archiving system which is able to replace a document by an archive link and storing the original file at an archiving media.

The KM doesn't have features like archiving files to another physical medium.

So if you wanna have features like this you can write your own portal service as a repository service. This portal service can do this but anyway you have to implement it by your own.

    Best regards

I advice you not to use KM as a replacement...

Instead look at OpenText It has a very close relationship with SAP.

I mention opentext because of the relationship with SAP but ofcourse there are many other 3th party ECM solutions.

Take a look at this presentation http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/shop?rid=/media/uuid/900af850-6b7f-2c10-f292-fd3c0f3e14f5

It makes it much more clear what will be the strategy of SAP in the next years, and I can tell you it aint KM.

    Hope this helps a bit.
