    In brief: -

Product proposal is actually Material catelogue- which will be assigned to any customer & avoids manual / Data entry to the user which has material with or w/o qtty basis. where as material lsiting is to restrict any customer to purchase certain / applicable materials which is maintained in Condition record in VB01.

    Hi

Product proposal or Item proposal is a tool to speed up the creation of sales order. It proposes products/items and quantities also while creating the sales order. User can copy them saving their time to enter the materials manually. You can maintain the list for most commonly ordered products and can select the relevant while creating the sales order.

Listing is a functionality by which you can restrict the materials that can be sold to a customer etc., Eg., in case of sales like Pharmaceuticals, chemicals, explosives etc., the customers need to have special licences to sell certain products and hence we use listing and exclusion. It is just an example and there are many other scenarios.

    Thanks,

    Ravi

    Hi,

Material Proposal: A group of customers usually orders 15 materials out of 1000 materials you have. Create u2018Item Proposalu2019 in VA51. Enter the list of materials and save the document. Then create a sales order for any one of the customers. Instead of entering the material codes, click on u2018Propose Itemsu2019 button. A window will open; enter the Item proposal number. Enter u2018Copyu2019 button; all the items will be copied in the sales order. You can delete the items; you can add the items. You can copy the items with quantity and change the quantity. This facilitates to enter the items quickly in the sales order.

Material Listing: This will happen in industries that have wide range of products. For example, one company manufactures motors from 0.25 hp to 100 hp. The company wants to supply motors from 0.25 hp to 1.00 hp to u2018customer Au2019. In this case u2018Listingu2019 will come in picture. Create Listing in transaction code VB01. Enter u2018A001u2019 for listing. Select u2018Customer/Materialu2019 combination. Enter the customer code and all the materials you want to supply to the customer and save. Create sales order; the system will accept the materials listed in the u2018listingu2019 for the customer A.

Exclusion: This works like u2018Listingu2019, but in opposite way. The transaction code is VB01. Select u2018B001u2019 for exclusion. List all the materials that you do not want to supply to a customer B. You want to supply motors from 2 Hp to 100 hp to customer B; instead of u2018listingu2019 all items in this range to CustomerB, you can exclude 0.25 Hp to 1 Hp for this customer. So, CustomerB can not buy 0.25 Hp to 1 Hp; it means he can buy 2 Hp to 100 Hp.

Since you have asked the scenario, I have explained like thisu2026. Is it boring 😊
