Send reports to BI Inbox

Hello All,

We have a req to enable users to send report via BI Inbox. I have enabled all the security settings needed for it.

But when we chose send to BI Inbox option, we can either send the copy or shortcut of the report both.

I want to understand how will the shortcut work in this scenario.

User 1 sends the shortcut of the report to user 2 which is placed in its personal folder. But user 2 cannot have access to this shortcut as it does not have access to original report as it is placed in the personal folder of user 2.

Business Scenario :

All the members of the team have view access to the report placed under public folder.

So all users can save a copy of the report only in their personal folder.

Also within the team, the lead will make some changes in the report and wants to share this layout to the entire team which is stored in lead's personal folder itself.

Hence when sharing it via BI Inbox,they have to choose copy option only.

But preference is Shortcut ( as and when the lead makes changes to the layout it will show up the changes in shortcut as well)

Any suggestions to handle this?

If you work with a link to a report, the report should be accessible to the user who receives the link.

So create a folder, eg. For example, "TeamFolders" and create a subfolder for each team and give the appropriate team access to it.

Then, the lead put a copy of the report he wants to share with other team members in the team's folder, creates the report link, and sends it to the team members.

ex. Folders:

TeamFolders

|_ Team1 ----> Allow access only to members of Team1

|_ Team2 ----> Allow access only to members of Team2
