Settlement rules determination in case of assets.

Hi Experts

I have a project structure for settlement to various assets as given below:

A/0001-MILL -Settlement receiver Asset 'Mill'

A/0001-MILL-MECH

A/0001-MILL-ELEC

A/0001-MILL-INST

A/0001-MILL-CIVIL - Settlement receiver Asset 'building'

The WBSs Mech, Elec and Inst are to be settled to 'Mill' where as Civil to be settled to 'building'.

In this case, i have manually assigned settlement rules for A/0001-MILL and A/0001-MILL-CIVIL as shown above.

But how to ensure that A/0001-MILL-MECH, A/0001-MILL-ELEC, A/0001-MILL-INST will use the settlement rule of A/0001-MILL (higher level WBS).

Is it required to assign the settlement rules for next level WBSs manually?

I would design the solution as follows -

Structure as follows -

Level 2 WBS A/0001-MILL -Settlement receiver Asset 'Mill'

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-MECH

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-ELEC

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-INST

Level 2 WBS A/0001-MILL-CIVIL - Settlement receiver Asset 'building'

Now for

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-MECH

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-ELEC

Level 3 WBS A/0001-MILL-INST

I would have a settlement strategy for setting automated rules for Level 3 to superior WBS to Level 2

There is no standard stategy for this and so I would use BADI WBS_SETTLEMENT_RULE or WBS_SETTLEMENT_RULE_NEW

in settings for Determine Strategy for Settlement rule (path: Img > project systems > Costs > automatic and periodic allocations > Settlement > Settlement rule for WBS>

select acct assignment category 4 (Copy rule from superior object) in the settings for the applicable strategy

Thank you for the reply.

Since the asset need to be entered manaully (no Investment management used) i have not applied the settlement strategy for the WBS elements.

With out specifiation of settlement receiver (asset number), still can we use settlement strategy for WBS element? Please suggest.

hi,

i am not sure what you are referring to...

do you mean if the settlement strategy will still work even if there is no settlement rule to the asset in the higher level WBS element?

actually i have not tested it but i think it will work... however, you still need to maintain settlement rule to the asset later since the costs in the top WBS elements will have to be settled somewhere...

kindly clarify if that is not what you are asking.
