MIC for color

Dear QM experts

I have to create one mic For Color,

i cant create MIC with code group,because in code group colors will be predifined and we will select the any of color from possible entries,

in my comapny i have infinty of colors ,so i cants create code group for COLOR

so created COLOR mic as qualitative withoutt code group ,and i assigined to inprocess inpsection,

but in QA32 when i entered as result soem color as RED ,it is saying impuit shud be in form-------,so it is not accpting the text

SO i cant create a MIC as TEXT,which i can enter externally.

you can only use quantitative or qualitative characteristics.

For QUANT the result MUST be a number. No other choice!!!.

For QUAL, the values MUST come from a catalog. No other choice!!!

There is no free text allowed in QM inspection.

If your techs are free to enter in any value they want, typos will happen and you will have no consistency.

I've worked for companies doing car paints and I understand the infiinite number of colors thing. But for a given product or paint, there should still be only a limited number of choices. A red paiint can't be blue.

You have a few choices.

1) Decide on a list of catalog choices and use a qualitative characteristic

2) Covert your shades to a number system and enter in number. I know there are several color tests and testing equipment that provide a number for the color.

3) Use simple PASS/FAIL characteristic and have the tech enter in the actual color in the inspection description. This can be made required with the control indicators.

Hi,

I have used Inspection description field in similar situation where we can enter free text and can be made required by control indicator.

This is the only option avilable (enter free text)

yep Samething Iam doing

Iam creating Color For MIC as with CATALOGUES as ACCPT/REJCT/HOLD in Long text i will enter the acutal colors

i assigned points for u both
