Hi All,
I have CR V14.2.6.2839 installed on WIN10. When I try to open any of the label reports, I get a Invalid Printer Error massage saying "Invalid printer; the default printer will be used."
I was getting the same error with CR 2008 as well (before getting the CR 2016). I do have the label printer installed on my computer but I still get the error.
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance
HP Printers, Zebra printers, etc. those are "family" printers, same types different brands.

After you open the report click on File, Page Setup, and select the printer you have.
Do not use No Printer but check on Dissociate so it removes the exact printer from the report and it will look for the "family" of printer options you have selected.
If it's a label printer and using a custom paper size make sure you create the same name on each printer instlaled on site, CR will look for the custom paper size first and paper size ENUM second. The paper size ENUM can be any number which caused problems in ealier versions of CR.
You can see this when printing the report, the UI should have Saved Printer Name and Saved Paper Name.

Hi,
The answer is: Crystal reports file stores the Printer information, and when the file is opened locally stored the printer in the report is validated against the available printers, and when this is not found, that you got the message. See some tips here:
