Hi All,

We are currenlty performing a PI 7.1 Netwwaver installation on iSeries V6R1. After completing all pre requsites and when trying to start installation, an issue arised with Sapinst.

We are using what in the Installation Guide is described as "Starting SAPinst GUI Separately (Optional)" , section 6.1.3 being more specific.

However, the following error message appears:

Error while connecting to communication partner - see preceeding messages.

Could not connect to host <hostname> on port <port number>.

java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

The pc from we are trying to start the installation remotely, is a Windows 2003 Server 32 bits machine. We also have a ROOTBIN share to the iSeries host, but the result is the same as we tried to execute the sapinst locally.

After searching for a possible solution of this issue, we got the following note: Note 1240081 - "Java Cryptography Extension Jurisdiction Policy" files. However, the issue remains even after completing steps detailed in the above note.

In addition, and as is described in note Note 966719 - SAP NetWeaver Inst. Based on Kernel 7.10: IBM DB2 for i5/OS, "When downloading the installation DVD from the SAP marketplace, the sapinstgui.exe file might not be included. The GUI is available for downloaded at the SAP marketplace as well. Download 'SAPinstgui for Windows Server on IA32 32bit' (51033240_41) and execute sapinstgui.exe on Windows", the sapinstgui.exe was downloaded from Market Place.

Could you please suggest what to check or detail the steps I should follow to accomplish this? Should I set something on the iSeries side to allow communication?

Please let me know if any other info is required. We'll wait for your comments.

Thansk and best regards
