Windows AD Authentication fails for CmcApp but works for Infoview

I have configured Windows AD Authentication according to the instructions in the excellent guide

"Configuring Vintela SSO in Distributed Environments - Complete.pdf" by Tim Ziemba. However I cannot get the CmCApp to work using AD Authentication.

Java Infoview as well as the non-web clients like Business View Manager work (even on local tomcat server). The error message is as follows:

Account Information Not Recognized: Active Directory Authentication failed to log you on. Please contact your system administrator to make sure you are a member of a valid mapped group and try again. If you are not a member of the default domain, enter your user name as UserName@DNS_DomainName, and then try again. (FWM 00006)

Enter your user information and click Log On.

(If you are unsure of your account information, contact your system administrator.)

I was using the same user to log in. This user has been explicitly granted full rights on the Cmc application
