SOAP: call failed: java.net.UnknownHostException

I have an issue on our PIQ server where i am getting an unknown host issue from my ECC 6.0 (proxy) to PI7.1 to SOAP thks works from out PID server.

 SOAP: error occured: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: java.net.UnknownHostException: host.domain

 Error
 Adapter Framework caught exception: java.net.UnknownHostException: host.domain

 Error
 Delivering the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: java.net.UnknownHostException: host.domain
 

i have tried deleting the comms channel and recreatng it. but the error persists.

i do not have access to the O/S to ping the host from there.

but I can access the URL from my local machine...

any thoughts on what else and where to check?

a number of factors contributed to this.

incorrect DNS and Firewall settings being the main culprits

i gather this to be a network issue.

There must be a firewall setting that needs to be changed for the QA server configuration. Engage your basis and n/w team and take this forward.

Hi,

I an not very much sure about it, but you can try this....

if this is the first time you are facing this issue then chek if there is an host entry maintained under /etc/hosts file.
