Default in Drop-down list

Hello

Can someone tell me how i can make a default entry in a drop-down list. I have inserted the formula in the list for countries e.g. Canada as default with the formula 'Canada' but it then only shows Canada in the list. what i need is for Canada to be the Default but also show the other countries.
