Cannot install TA Service after ARS DB upgrade

Hello,

We have upgraded the ARS database from 4.0 version to 7.0 Version using Mobile Upgrade tool.

The ARS DB upgrade went fine without any errors. But now I am not able to install the Transport Service. Getting the error that DB Structure version is different from ARS version.

I have checked some SAP notes and in the ARS SYS TABLE the Database version is 5.1 but the ARS.dll which I had in bin folder was corresponding to 1.2 version. Hence I have copied the ARS.dll file with the 5.1 version from my previous CRM Mobile 7.0 SP04 installation and pasted in C:\ProgramFiles\SAP\Mobile\bin

Then I get the error: Runtime error 440. Automation error.

Please let us know what needs to be done now.

Thanks and Regards,

Srinivas Reddy

    Hello Srinivas,

Upgrading the MRS has 2 phases -

    1. Upgrading the ars_db using MAR Upgrade Tool.

    2. Upgrading Tools and Services.

I believe you've missed out on the 2nd step. Please upgrade the tools and services and try to install the Transport Service after doing that. You may refer to the CRM Mobile Upgrade documentation for more info in this regard.

    Thanks,

    Rohit

      Hi Srinivas,

The issue could be that you did not deinstall the TA before doing the upgrade. Therefore the old TA still exists in you services and the installer does not allow you to install the new service. In that case you have to:

      1. Deinstall the service manually using the command line

      2. Install the new service as you tried already

Please make sure that the MAR Central Service is running properly before you install the new TA.

      Regards
