BO XI 3.1 & oracle 64bit

Hi,

I thought I had a relative simple question, namely, does Business Objects XI 3.1 (BuildVersion=12.1.0.882.BOE_Mira_RTM) work with Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production?

During installation of BO XI 3.1 we get the following error:

Database access error. Reason Loading shared object failed. First tried to load library oci and failed because of error: [%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

]. Second tried to load library oci.dll and failed because of error: [%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

].

Anybody got an idea on whether this will work and if so, how??

Kind regards,

Martijn Ruijsbroek

Acccording to the error message I'd assume you're using a 32bit BO and trying to load a 64bit Oracle client. This doesn't work.

You'll need to get the 64bit BO.

I think your assumption is right, in fact, I know it is, but according to the documention I have, there is no 64 bit BO version for windows 2003 R2 SP2 x64.

Ofcourse, I might be looking at te wrong locations, if anyone can point me out to where I can download BO XI 3.1 x64, it would be much appreciated.

The other way would be to install a 32bit Oracle client to connect to the 64bit database.

Yes, that had passed our minds, but the year is 2010 and one would assume that x64 would be used by now.

We didn't miss anything and BO XI 3.1 simply isn't available as a 64bit variant for OS MS Windows 2003 SP R2 x64 ?????
