Is SAP BI 4.1 SP06 is Compatible with DCP ?
I first cleared down old versions of SAP BI platform and client software. Then on the server machine did fresh full install of server SAP BI 4.2 SP06. Then as per SAP note – 1939383, on the client machine , first installed client XI 3.1 SP06, then client SAP BI 4.2 SP06 and then applied client XI 3.1 Fix Pack 7 and copied Copy Busobj.exe, busobj.tlb, BusobjSchedule.exe files as per the note.
But Deski client is not working at all, rest everything – Webi client, Launch pad, Universe design tool etc, is working. When I tried to connect Deski client to 4.2 CMS, it won’t connect at all and disappeared from the screen without giving any error. But it (the deski client) is working in standalone mode. Then I applied client XI 3.1 Fix pack 7.3 but still the same issue with the deski client
Then I applied the client XI 3.1 Fix pack 7.4 but the behaviour of deski client still remained unchanged
Not sure there is something wrong with the configuration or SAP BI 4.2 SP06 is not compatible with DCP (though SAP support portal says 4.2 is compatible with DCP, it’s is not explicit whether all or only some SP’s of 4.2 are compatible with DCP.
Some of my users are still using desktop intelligence and it will take a while before they could completely migrate to Webi, Currently I have SAP BI 4.1 SP05 and SP08 environments which are allowing DCP to work. But I can’t upgrade these to SAP BI 4.2 if DCP doesn’t work with it. May be that SAP BI 4.2 SP02 is compatible with DCP but I would like to go for recent releases of 4.2
So someone could you please help? If need any further details, please let us know!
Hi Kerry,
Sorry for late response . We escalated this issue to SAP. They provided a patch ( an unofficial one ) . After applying the patch, the issue is resolved and DCP is working fine with 4.2 SP06.

Arvind, did you find a solution for this? I am in the same situation, DCP was working in 4.1 at my client but with the upgrade to 4.2sp6, I followed the same procedures as you and I am experiencing the same as you. Client needs DCP in 4.2 to facilitate the eventual decommissioning of the 3.1 platform.
